FAQs

Can I bring a plus one?

If you have a plus one indicated on your invitation, then you are more than welcome to bring them! All guests allotted to your party will automatically appear when you enter your name on the RSVP page. Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate additional extra guests due to venue capacity.

What’s the dress code?

We kindly ask that our guests dress in Creative Formal (Black Tie Optional) attire. Have fun with it and show off your best glad rags! Patterns, sparkles & funky textures encouraged. Parts of the event will be held on grass, so maybe leave the stilettos at home. Be sure to dress for unpredictable Scottish weather, cool temperatures and/or rain showers are always possible.

Can I wear a kilt?

Kilts are a traditional formal menswear option at Scottish weddings. Lads, if you feel comfortable donning a kilt, go for it! But please remember: a kilt is not a costume. There is important etiquette related to the traditional dress that should be respected if you choose to wear a kilt. Similar to a tux, it requires a full outfit rental beyond just the kilt itself: from the jacket and waistcoat all the way down to the sporran, hose, shoes and accessories. See here for more information on how to do it properly.

If you’d like assistance arranging a kilt fitting and rental in Scotland, please let us know and we can point you in the right direction.

For the Americans…

How do I pronounce ‘Edinburgh’?

For instant street cred, pronounce it like this: “Ed-in-Bruh”.

Can I rent a car in Scotland?

While technically Americans can rent cars in Scotland, please keep in mind that the UK drives on the opposite side of the road than Americans are accustomed to, and that there’s a zero-tolerance drink and drive law in Scotland. We strongly recommend utilizing public transport (the trains and busses are great!) or taking taxis / Ubers.

What is haggis?

Haggis is Scotland's national dish, made from sheep's offal, oatmeal, and spices, and traditionally cooked in a sheep's stomach. You’ll find haggis at most Scottish pubs and restaurants, but we’ve decided not to serve it at our wedding.

Is the Loch Ness Monster real?

Unequivocally, YES.

Is this The Traitors?
